The fourth phase of this project aims at strengthening business skills and improving the access to labor market for voluntary returnees from Switzerland and transit countries to Nigeria, including returnees in situation of vulnerability. It will continue to contribute to the sustainability of the economic reintegration by increasing the durability of individual business projects set up by voluntary returnees to Nigeria with the help of reintegration assistance financed by the Swiss government. The target groups consist, on the one hand, of Nigerian nationals returning from Switzerland with AVRR assistance granted by SEM (including Victims of trafficking in persons (VoTs), based on their interest and ability) and, on the other hand, of vulnerable Nigerian nationals returning from transit countries (mainly Niger, Mali, and Libya).

The project focuses on two main components:
  • Needs-based entrepreneurship training for beneficiaries of Assisted Voluntary Return and Reintegration (AVRR) shortly after their arrival, such as the ILO business training “Start & Improve Your Business Skills (SIYB)”, and vocational training/on-the-job training The training will be offered to 40 AVRR beneficiaries having returned from Switzerland and 80 migrants in vulnerable situation having returned from transit countries.
  • Access to micro-credits for both returnees from Switzerland and from transit countries who want to further develop their small enterprises in cooperation with a local microfinance institution.
