The EU-IOM Knowledge Management Hub, funded by the European Union (EU), is organising a blended training programme based on IOM's Reintegration Handbook and its related training curriculum.

This call for applications primarily targets French-speaking reintegration practitioners (local NGOs, national and local authorities, implementing partners) working in the field of reintegration in in the Northern Africa, Sahel and Lake Chad, the Horn of Africa and Bangladesh. Applications from other regions/countries will be considered second. The training takes a blended approach combining stand-alone online courses, webinars, experience sharing and individual or group work over a two-month period, the end of September to the end of November 2021. This blended training will also be offered in English in March 2022.

Context

IOM’s Reintegration Handbook, published in November 2019, along with the accompanying online course and training curriculum, were developed as part of the ORION project, which was part of the Safety, Support and Solutions in the Central Mediterranean Route programme funded by the UK Foreign, Commonwealth and Development Office (FCDO). These tools were created with the aim of providing practical guidance for the development, implementation and monitoring of assistance to returning migrants.

In order to promote a common understanding of the integrated approach to sustainable reintegration, A training programme on reintegration is being established in the regions/countries of the EU-IOM Actions: Sahel at Lake Chad, North Africa, the Horn of Africa and Bangladesh.

In this context and with EU funding, the EU-IOM Knowledge Management Hub offers a training using a blended approach combining autonomous online courses, webinars and individual or group exercises for its members and their partners in these regions/countries.

The main purpose of this training programme is for reintegration practitioners to be able to implement sustainable reintegration programmes.

More specifically, at the end of the blended reintegration training programme, participants will be able to:

• Explain and apply the integrated approach to sustainable reintegration.

• Describe reintegration assistance interventions at the individual, community and structural levels.

• Prepare and participate in the monitoring and evaluation of reintegration programmes.

• Understand specific interventions for the reintegration of children and their families.

Call for applications

IOM is therefore seeking reintegration practitioners who are motivated and wish to better understand and apply the integrated approach to reintegration in their missions/countries to sign-up for this training.

20 participants will be selected and will need to commit to take an active part in the various learning stages from the end of September to the end of November 2021.

More specifically, from the end of September to the end of November, participants will commit to:

• Take the IOM Online Reintegration Course in pass the test.

• Participate in a dozen online training sessions facilitated by a trainer and experts on the topics discussed.

• Participate in two online experience exchange sessions.

• Perform 5 short individual exercises.

• Take part in 2 group exercises.

Suggested Timeline

This training programme takes a blended approach combining autonomous online courses, webinars (through MS Teams) and individual or group exercises.

Qualifications and experience required

In order to participate in this training, candidates must have:

• A minimum of 2 years’ experience in the field of migration (or related to migration).

• One year's experience in the field of reintegration or in a field related to reintegration. The prospect of joining a programme or project related to reintegration may also motivate an application.

• A good mastery of written and spoken French.

Engagement, availability and workload

Candidates for this training programme must take part in it from the end of September to the end of November 2021.

In terms of workload, participants will be asked to:

• Complete the individual online course in September (4 to 5 hours in total)

• Participate in about 11 online webinars through MS Teams (1h30 each)

• Complete 5 individual exercise courses (about one hour of preparation - 30 minutes of reading and 30 minutes of exercise)

• Participate in 2 group exercises (about an hour each).

It is therefore recommended that candidates request their supervisor’s approval before submitting their application.
